The Introduction of the Tuckas (Excerpt from Children’s Book)

I’ve been asked several times to better explain the Tuckas after the last excerpt, so here is a portion of the book from before the last post. It happens earlier in the book and lightly explains what the Tuckas are, and how they relate to the story. There’s more, but this should suffice.

The rain was pouring as they climbed up the hillside. It was so fast and furious that the three of them could barely see the path and so they took their time, one step at a time, for they were fearful that Continue reading

The Cave Part I (Excerpt from Children’s Book)

This is an excerpt from the children’s book that I’m working on, from time-to-time. Hope you enjoy. Again, I don’t edit or proof-read so there will be mistakes. Just comment and let me know. 🙂 Also, this is mid-book… so just keep that in mind. The book doesn’t begin this way.

The Cave Part I

They went hand-in-hand (or in some cases, hand-in-hoof) further down into the cave until it got so dark that Tessa and Levi could not see anything at all. “I’m scared,” whispered Levi.

“I am, too,” Tessa whispered back. They took another few careful steps before Continue reading

Dear God, It’s Me, Senator Brett!

Disclaimer: Wrote this all in one take. No editing, very little proofing. Paige, my editor, said to just go with it and she will edit it later… like somewhere in 2013, or when the earth fades into the sun. So, enjoy…. Oh, and if you want, make a fun game of it… “Find out How Dumb and Fast Mark Types by Counting All the Mistakes and Putting Them in the Comment Section. Also, I hope, HOPE, that this essay starts conversations. Blake Powell, looking at you! EM… my dear… it would be a shame if you weren’t yelling at me, or near me, for some reason. Felina, come on, where’s the Palin in ya?! All of my Mathews family should be making beautiful funny asses out of themselves by now! And, Adrian, my Adrian will be sitting with me protecting me. But, please comment. Please, follow the blog. Please, like the FB page. Please, send chocolate dark chocolate chip cookies to… 🙂

Years ago I attended a small Bible college inDallas,TX. From the very beginning I was not their “typical” student… and it was painfully obvious. However, I did learn some there, and I hope that a few people learned from me as well.

The one thing that happened was that about two weeks into the school year Continue reading

TOTD – Does Your Vote Count? Yes, Yes It Does!

*Disclaimer: I find a great deal of things to be funny, and my sense of humor, I think, covers a broad spectrum. And in that spectrum there lies the sophomoric and the low-brow. I’m sorry, but there are a lot of immature things that make me laugh. So, having said that… I hope this post doesn’t offend anyone.

I also need your opinion. You cast the vote. Whatever name gets the most votes by the end of the weekend (Sunday night 11:59 p.m., Central Time) will be declared the winner and forever be attached to my life!

Also, I am not responsible if you are offended by the carefully chosen words and/or my mockery of some people. If you are truly offended, I apologize… however, I will add that not only am I sorry that I offended you, but that you also need to not take yourself so seriously and that you should probably smile more. Thank you… come back again! 🙂

Thought of the Day – Does Your Vote Count? Yes, Yes It Does!

by Senator Brett

As many of you know, I am close to my niece, Tessa. Due to some cooking commitments that I made for my sister’s church picnic I spent last weekend with her and her family, and therefor got a lot of quality time with my niece. After a great weekend it came time for me to leave on Sunday night. My niece goes into her room and comes back and hands me a stuffed creation.

Now, don’t get me wrong… Continue reading
