TOTD – Spare Change Equals One Ticket?!

Thought of the Day – Spare Change Equals One Ticket?!

by Senator Brett

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that homeless people could get more creative with their panhandling? I mean, I think it’d be great if homeless people went to the mall with a bunch of raffle tickets and stood next to the escalators with a sign that read, “Ticket for escalator: $.10 cents!”… and just see who pays them. Then, when some asshole goes, “Hey, if you’re homeless how did you afford the raffle tickets?!” they can shoot back with, “From all the money I made off the elevator ride!”

This only works in two-story malls… but, let’s be honest, if your mall only has one story you have a lot more problems than just homelessness. 🙂

And, FYI… if homeless people were at the beginning of escalators, or at elevators, A LOT more people would take the stairs. Trust me, a lot… which might help with our obesity problem. So many people would think, “Homeless people?! Social issues?! No, thank you! I’ll take the stairs to Cinnabon!”

Also, why not employ the homeless to be restroom attendants in malls? I know what you’re thinking… that maybe they are not hygienic enough. But, let’s be honest, I’d settle for homeless restroom attendants if it meant some people would be reminded to wash their hands properly… or at all! You know who you are…

Have a great one, folks. Go Team USA! (This only applies to my Olympics friends… the rest of you are not on Team USA!) 🙂

I guess the best term to describe me is "Tex-Mex... at its best and worst!" I am a native Houstonian who loves all things "sports", Spanish red wines, cooking, hoppy beers, women with low standards, way too much television, watching movies on rainy days and using the term "the cat's pajamas" even when it doesn't make much sense.

  1. Lots of this sort of thing happens in Europe.People stand outside churches and cathedrals with a little bowl, a smile and a raised eyebrow. The assumption is you have to pay to go in.
    And people do.
This happens outside a lot of the toilets in Egypt, too. It is generally recognised that you pay one Egyptian Pound to go and use the loo. Someone outside takes your pound and gives you a couple of scruffy pieces of toilet paper. Then inside, the real loo attendant does the same thing. I reckon they could be husband and wife and they have a good thing going.
And believe me, they often look as if they are not hygienic enough, but there is a basin in there.
But maybe the homeless people you are talking about are homeless for a reason. Maybe they don’t think like writers.

  2. LOL… see… nothing is new under the sun! I thought I was being clever and those bastard in Egypt are way ahead of me… it’s like the pyramids all over again! Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the writing. I’ll be hitting you up for that excerpt soon. Off to a family gathering for now. Have a fantastic day.
